Project Title: World Wide Friends….WWF
Duration: Fall 2014
Origination: The organization I chose was WWF; which stands for World wildlife fund. Their goal is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth. By 2020, WWF will conserve many of the world’s most ecologically important regions by working in partnership with others to; protect and restore species and their habitats, transform markets and policies to reduce the impact of the production and consumption of commodities, ensure that the value of nature is reflected in decisions made by individuals, communities, governments, and businesses. WWF’s work has evolved from saving species and landscapes to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them.WWF works in all aspects of environmental work from climate change, deforestation, fresh water, and keeping oceans clean of pollutants.
Research: My research comes from tireless hours of Google searching and web surfing. WWF’s home webpage was a very resourceful tool to use in my research. The website has all the information I needed to further gain details on their world wide work spanning from environmental protection to endangered animal protection.
Strategy: My strategy consisted of mostly focusing on the endangered animal aspect of the WWF’s work and the impact we as people have on their environment. We started with the hyper; which my idea behind it was to show the effect our urbanization has on wildlife. The use of factories made this easy to portray and what better animal to use then a polar bear for a desert landscape. The use of vultures flying above showed they were close to death due to us destroying climate. Our second project was the cubism, i wanted to show different animals blended into one. This could help show the little amount of these animals that is left and portray their endangerment. The use of landscapes for the background was used to show their different environments before we impacted them. Our last project was the collage which I wanted to show the extremeness of the deforestation in the rain forest and its effect on the wildlife.
Challenges: My challenges for these projects mostly came up from my lack of knowledge of Photoshop. But secondary complications rose up trying to tie in our impact on the environment with the animals them self. This was a problem due to not trying to overdo one aspect over another because both are equally important to the protection of these animals futures and our environment.
Results: Due to this semester and research over the time I was able to learn a great deal about WWF and what they stand for. My favorite piece was the cubist piece. The work I put into it helped me build my design skills and have better use of my space. These are skills I can carry with me into a design field that are needed skills. My Second favorite piece was my hyper. Making this was fun and knowledgeable. Since I had no previous knowledge of Photoshop in the beginning this was challenging but rewarding in the end.
